Kathleen Walas is an accomplished professional with global and grassroots experience in strategy development, philanthropy, marketing public relations, cause-related identities and social responsibility. As past President of the Avon Foundation, Ms. Walas transformed the Foundation from a $3 million/year private corporate foundation into a $75+ million/year world-recognized public charity. Under her leadership, Avon cause-marketing programs expanded globally to 50 countries, netting more than $800 million worldwide. Concurrent with her role as President of the Avon Foundation, Ms. Walas reported to the Chairman and CEO as the first-ever Corporate Social Responsibility Officer of Avon Products, Inc.
Ms. Walas also served as Senior Vice, Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility Officer of the Timex Group where she was responsible for worldwide communications and philanthropic strategies, environmental tracking and reporting and the company’s Timexpo Museum.
She currently serves on the Board of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County and chairs the Marine Program Advisory Committee and sits on the Personnel Committee.
Ms. Walas is also a Board Member, and past President of the Board, of the 100 year-old nonprofit, Parents League of New York. She is an active parent volunteer at Collegiate School in New York City and is past Director and Chair of the public affairs committee for the Personal Care Products Council, a Washington, D.C.-based trade association.
Ms. Walas has addressed audiences in a variety of forums including the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, Columbia University, and the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders program among others. Ms. Walas was inducted into the YWCA Academy of Women Achievers, honored by the Center for Women’s Health at NY Presbyterian Hospital, and named a “Woman of Achievement” by NYC nonprofit Cosmetic Executive Women.
Ms. Walas resides in Greenport, NY and in New York City, is a magna cum laude graduate of New York University, wife of a corporate General Counsel, the mother of three boys, an enthusiastic conservationist, a resolute knitter, gardener, and oyster farmer.
