Marine Meadows Agawam Park

Participants will weave eelgrass shoots (harvested from
healthy donor meadows in local waters) into burlap planting
discs. Once assembled, these discs will be planted by SCUBA
certified CCE Marine Program staff in carefully selected
restoration sites in our local estuaries. These newly
created “marine meadows” will serve as important marine
habitat for many species of finfish and shellfish.
Volunteers will gather at Agawam Park at 1pm.

Camp at the Suffolk County Farm

One of the most unique experiences on Long Island,
campers’ grades K-8 will take part in hands on activities
in animal science, agriculture, and environmental science
lead by experienced and trained educators. Imagine a day
complete with nature crafts, wagon rides, tasting fresh
produce, sprinklers, llama hikes, and bug collecting.

This recreational program, for children with diabetes,
offers participation in selected farm education courses that
have been specially developed and are presented by health
care professionals. There is extensive individual
interaction with health care professionals in a friendly,
compassionate environment. Also gives children the chance to
meet other children with diabetes in a fun, non-clinical

Preserve it Right! Canning and Preserving Workshop

Learn to can and preserve and store jars of fresh-picked
produce in this fun workshop! All workshops will be held
from 9:30am-noon at 423 Griffing Avenue in Riverhead. $20
per person, per workshop. Registration in advance required.
