Eelgrass meadows have been on the decline in recent decades, but we are working to bring them back. Restoring our local eelgrass meadows will result in the creation of habitat for many fish and shellfish species, help protect our shorelines from erosion, and improve the overall health and productivity of our bays.
This hands-on workshop will provide participants of all ages a chance to learn about the importance of eelgrass to our marine ecosystem, while helping CCE Staff assemble eelgrass planting units for use in local restoration efforts.
Event is FREE!
All participants must fill out a risk waiver, which you will receive by email before the date of the event.
Advanced registration is required in order to limited the number of participants to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Face masks and social distancing of 6 ft. are required. Separate stations for individuals and family groups will be provided to avoid sharing materials.
Marine Meadows workshops are sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
