The 2021 Strawberry Production Webinar will cover the following topics:

Tackling Fruit and Root Rots in Long Island Strawberries

Dr. Kerik Cox, Associate Professor, Cornell University

This talk will cover basics of disease management for fruit and root rots of strawberry with the focus on Anthracnose and Phytophthora root rot under production constraints and climate of Long Island. Additional emphasis will be place on research and recommendations for chemical, biological, and cultural control.

Renovation and Weed Management

Dr. Lynn Sosnoski, Weed Science, Cornell University

Lynn will cover the basic steps in renovation of matted-row strawberries to achieve good growth and maintain weed control. She will also cover other cultural and well as chemical weed control options for managing perennial and annual weeds in matted-row strawberries.

Strengths and Weakness of Berry Varieties for NY Growers

Dr. Courtney Weber, Horticulture Program Leader, Cornell University

This presentation will focus on strawberry varieties with disease resistance and talk about the pros and cons of several new as well as standard varieties.
