*This camp consists of (4) days total - Tuesdays from 7/13/2021 - 8/3/2021
Art and science both require careful and keen observational skills. Join us for this four-week session, Tuesdays 9am - 2pm. Each DayVenture will engage students in outdoor exploration of the many marine habitats surrounding Tiana Bayside Facility. Throughout the day students will be taught by Marine Educator, Hazel Wodehouse, how to formulate scientific questions, safely collect and care for live animals, measure parameters such as temperature and water quality, and use microscopes to view things up close and personal.
With the knowledge and inspiration gathered during our field experiences and discussions, students will then have the opportunity to create their own piece of artwork with the guidance of local artist Carolyn Munaco.
Weekly activities may include, but are not limited to, seining for local fish and invertebrates, hiking through the salt marsh and ocean beach, shell collection and species identification, and various art forms such as nature journaling, painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, and assemblage.
Please dress for a mess and for the weather!
