Marine Meadows Eelgrass Restoration Workshop by CCE Marine Program
Help us restore Long Island’s eelgrass populations! Participants will learn about the biology and importance of eelgrass as we discuss the causes of its population decrease and the ways that CCE is working to restore it. Participants will then help us with hands-on restoration work by making burlap “tortillas” that will be used to create new marine meadows. Later dates will be added for weaving eelgrass shoots into our tortillas!
*Registration is required to ensure we have enough space and resources to maintain social distancing. Please be sure to select the date you would like to attend.
All ages are welcome, but children under 11 may need parental assistance.
Masks will be required when not able to distance 6 feet outside.
The event will be held outside if weather permits, but we are limiting to 10 people total to fit inside if needed.
We recognize schedules are tight. You may attend all or part of these workshops. Every bit of help is appreciated!
