Patchogue Family YMCA

The Child Care Center of Patchogue Family YMCA completed the NAP SACC program in the Spring of 2015. They successfully made the following changes which will improve the health of the children who attend.“Fresh Fruit Friday” and “Veggie Tuesday” were implemented; increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables at the center. Water is now the primary beverage choice at the center and it is available at all times both indoors and outdoors.In addition, the amount of time children spend using screens at the center has decreased, allowing for more physical activity. A major focus for the child care center was to create a comprehensive policy which included nutrition, physical activity and media usage protocol.These changes, in addition to the training staff received, will ensure better
