Brief Summary: Gate Attendants are needed for 2 shifts: 7:00am - 3:00pm, and 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Monday through Friday. Gate Attendants are responsible for securing the main entrance to Peconic Dunes. Interacting with all persons, and maintaining a duty log documenting all individuals coming and going from the campus. Gate Attendants interact with parents, staff, campers, visitors, and delivery people. All Gate Attendants are expected to present themselves and communicate in a professional manner at all times, treating people with respect and always attempt to deescalate tense situations. These duties are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties will be assigned as required.

Specific Responsibilities: Gate Attendants primarily interact with parents and staff associated with the day camp. As the primary point of contact between parents, staff, and campers, Gate Attendants will present themselves and communicate in a professional manner at all times. It is imperative for Gate Attendants to communicate with the main office via the handheld radio provided.

Gate Attendants also interact with many people who wish to visit our campus. Gate Attendants will have to discern who to permit on campus (delivery people, alumni, parents), and who not to allow on campus (tourists). In every case, Gate Attendants should treat people with respect and always attempt to deescalate tense situations.

Gate Attendants are required to document the occurrences of every shift, whether eventful or not. Forms will be provided, though certain incidents will require a written narrative describing as much objective detail as possible.

Minimum Qualifications: 16-years-old or over

Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma; 1-year job related experience at school, university, etc., or NYS 8-hr Security Guard Training Course

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am-3pm Day Shift
                          Monday - Friday, 3pm-11pm Evening Shift
