4-H STEM Educator

4-H STEM Educator – Suffolk County Farm, Yaphank, NY


The educator will be delivering programs related to the Education Foundation Grant awarded to CCE-Suffolk. Educator will be delivering STEM based afterschool technology programs in a club setting.This position will participate in discussions and provide input surrounding program delivery, evaluation, marketing and community connections.In conjunction with supervisor, assist in finalizing field trips.Deliver STEM based programs utilizing 4-H curriculum. With the other school liaisons, provide input into the structure of the program.Purchase supplies needed for the program. Assist supervisor in conducting evaluations.

This is a 9-month, grant funded position September 2018-May 2019.

Some weekends, evenings and travel required.


  • Associates Degree or equivalent of high school diploma/GED and one year transferrable education experience is acceptable.
  • 2 years related volunteer or work experience in youth education field.
  • Experience in youth work, teaching, counseling or other related field.
  • Volunteer or paid experience working with volunteers.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards, if required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds in program materials as programs are often held offsite.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Significant experience teaching youth and adults in formal or informal settings.
  • Experience with teaching GPS/GIS, robotics and STEM programs in an informal setting.
  • Program development, supervision and marketing experience.


Part-Time, Non-Exempt position, 20 hours per week.

Pay Rate Type: $16.50 per hour
