Aquatics Program Director

Classification Title: Temporary Camp Program Director

Title of Position: Program Director

Job Location: Peconic Dunes 4-H Camp, Southold, NY

Brief Summary: Coordinate and direct the development and implementation of aquatics program including but not limited to: swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle board, etc. Supervise senior and junior camp counselors to effect quality programming in subject area.

Minimum Qualifications: One year experience as an aquatics director or two years’ experience as a lifeguard at a children’s camp. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Emotional maturity, good health, and vitality. Must be at least 21 years old to comply with New York State Department of Health regulations. Must have current CPR certificate and acceptable Lifeguard Supervision and Management certificate. All certificates must be valid through the duration of employment. Ability to supervise and organize staff members. Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. Ability to meet acceptable background check standards, if required. Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications: Lifeguard and Progressive Swimming Instructor certificates preferred.

Work Schedule: +40 hours/week Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm with a half hour break One day a week 8:30 am – 10 pm with two half hour breaks

Salary Range: Exempt, salary starts at $5,500 based on experience and qualifications
