Assistant Camp Director for Program, Suffolk County Farm, Yaphank, NY

Position Summary:

The Assistant Camp Director is responsible for assisting in developing and delivering quality educational and recreational camp programs that are safe, fun, and encourage kids to grow and learn in a supportive environment; provide overall supervision for the camp program. Lead compliance with all camp policies and procedures that protect camper and staff health and safety; take corrective actions to reduce risks and ensure safe camp management. Assist in administering the daily schedule effectively, balancing activities and daily routines, ensuring adequate staff coverage, and adjusting for weather-related or other exigencies. Lead problem-solving, and conflict resolution processes effectively address camper, parent, staff concerns, behavioral problems, and personal conflicts.Assist in staff guidance and communication, including conducting staff meetings, directing staff evaluation processes, implementing performance improvement strategies as needed, recognizing outstanding performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Animal Science, Education, or other related field and at least 21 years old.
  • Two years or more experience working with youth.
  • One year of paid or volunteer experience working with children or the public.
  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional education and training in education or youth camp.
  • Two years of administrative or supervisory experience in an organized camp.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary: $19.67-$23.42 for full summer ONLY (rate based on experience)

Hours: 20 hours per week

Benefits: No Benefits
