Classification Title: Temp Camp Kitchen Worker
Title of Position: Cook
Job Location: Peconic Dunes 4-H Camp, Southold, NY
Brief Summary: Under the guidance of the Food Service Manager, the cook prepares meals in large quantities to serve 200 or more persons.Prepares meal choices for individuals with specific dietary restrictions or needs.Directs the work of kitchen assistants.Maintains a food preparation, service and storage environment that complies with NYS Department of Health regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: Must meet age requirements for the position set by the NYS Department of Health (minimum 18 years of age) Possess a current Suffolk County Department of Health Food Managers Certificate. 1-2 years previous experience with increasing responsibility in a kitchen.
Knowledge of generally accepted nutrition guidelines. Able to operate commercial kitchen equipment. Able to lift 20-50 lbs. Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications: Training or education as a chef or cook.Experience as a camp cook.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week
Salary Range: Non-Exempt, $16 per hour
