Title of Position: Day Camp Coordinator

Job Location: Peconic Dunes 4-H Camp, Southold, NY

Brief Summary: The Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for managing the Day Camp operations, schedule and programming. Supervises assigned counselors and campers.Leads efforts to create a safe, healthy, and supportive day camp community. Supports a community-oriented camp culture that emphasizes empathy, continuous improvement and high performance. Responds promptly and effectively to problems and manages the post-incident in consultation with Director Workgroup, including resolution with camper(s) and staff, incident debriefing, and updating policies and procedures as needed. Ensure counselors are communicating concerns and incidents through documented CIMRs (Concern, Incident, and Medical Report). Share CIMRs with appropriate staff. Serves as primary liaison with parents of day campers. Conducts staff meetings and assists with staff training. Assists with program and staff evaluation.Performs other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 21 years old or possess a Bachelor’s degree (NYS Department of Health requirement) At least two years of administrative and/or supervisory experience in an organized camp. Must have at least one program skill suitable for camp leadership. Emotional maturity, good health, and vitality. Ability to work cooperatively with campers and other staff members. Able to lift 10 – 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications: College course work in education, youth development, outdoor education, recreation or physical education. Current CPR, first aid, and AED certifications. A valid driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle screen.

Work Schedule: +40 hours/week. Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 5:30pm, with an hour break

Salary Range: Exempt, salary starts at $3,500 based on experience and qualifications
