Position Title: Grant Writer Intern

Location: Currently Remote

Position Summary:

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk is seeking Grant Writer Interns to assist, support and help to grow our various public education, research, and community outreach programs. To the extent possible, internship experiences will be tailored to best meet the interests and any research requirements of intern candidates.

Responsibilities:

The Grant Writer Intern is a part time position that will be responsible for researching, writing, coordinating the grant application process and updating a donor database. The Grant Writer duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Write high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents
  • Responsible for researching, collecting data, and writing of each grant
  • Work with department managers to compile financials and data
  • Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials.
  • Develops and maintains a proposal calendar.
  • Coordinate and follow-ups on the progress of submitted proposals
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Experience/Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in research and grant writing; nonprofit experience a plus
  • College Student
  • Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals
  • Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven
  • Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Motivated and self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy.
  • Proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint


Hours:

The Grant Writer Intern should be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to the responsibilities assigned.
