Sr. Overnight Camp Counselor

Title of Position: Sr. Overnight Camp Counselor

Job Location: Peconic Dunes 4-H Camp, Southold, NY

Brief Summary: As a senior overnight counselor, provide leadership and guidance for a group of ten campers. Participate in general planning of camp program. Assist Camp Program Directors with program activities. Under the supervision of the Camp Program Directors, plan and conduct programs in a specific program area for 4-H summer campers. Assist with all camp program activities and other camp-wide activities as assigned. Interpret safety and health regulations. Participate in staff meetings and training events as scheduled.

Minimum Qualifications: Suffolk County Department of Health requirement must be 18 years old. Must be able to live on campus. Two years of C.I.T. training or equivalent experience working with children. Must have at least one program skill suitable for camp leadership. Emotional maturity, good health, and vitality. Ability to work cooperatively with campers and other staff members. Able to lift 10 – 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing a college degree in education, recreation, physical education or related field. Current certification in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. One or more years of experience as a camp counselor/instructor.

Work Schedule: Time off: 2-hours/day, 1-night/week, 1-day/week

Salary Range: Exempt, salary starts at $2,500 based on experience and qualifications
