GIS and Remote Sensing

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be defined as a system for assembling, manipulating, and analyzing geographically referenced information. It brings together various types of information for the purpose of managing resources and solving complex problems. Specialized GIS software developed by Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (Esri©) is widely accepted and employed by CCE. GIS tools and software have numerous applications throughout the Marine Program, including watershed analyses, water quality monitoring, fishery and wildlife management, and habitat restoration.
