Cooperative Extension of Suffolk’s Veterinary Medicine Career Exploration Program for High School Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors

Suffolk County High School sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in a potential career as a veterinarian are invited to participate in Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 2012 Veterinary Medicine Exploration Program. The series of lectures provides students with a variety of information on a career in veterinary medicine.

Classes will be held on February 28, March 6, 13, 20, & 27, rom 7:00pm-8:30pm plus the program includes a tour of Suffolk County Farm and Education Center on Saturday, March 10 and veterinarian shadowing experiences.

Lecture Topics May Include:
•    Veterinary Colleges and Admissions Information
•    Alternative Veterinary Practices
•    Animal Behavior
•    Veterinary Radiology
•    Equine Medicine
•    Lab Animal Medicine
•    Emergency Critical Care
•    Large and small animal mixed practices

Classes will be held at The Yaphank Building, 360 Yaphank Ave, Yaphank. Space is limited, registration in advance required. Registration form available online at www.ccesuffolk.org. Registration fee is $75. Program graduates eligible for LIVMA Veterinary School Scholarship.
