The primary effort of this position is program assistance in
the delivery of the bay scallop restoration project. This position will focus
on the culturing of bay scallops during their intermediate and grow-out
aquaculture phases for the bay scallop restoration program. This position will
require the individual to work on boats in varying weather conditions, use
manual and electric hand tools, construct and repair equipment associated with
the bay scallop restoration program as well as the cleaning and deployment of
nets containing shellfish. The general nature of this position will be to act
under direct supervision with a limited degree of independence.
Required Qualifications:
- High
School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability
to work outdoors, and on boats, in all weather conditions.
- Ability
to complete basic math.
- Ability
to work in a team setting.
- Attention
to detail.
- Ability
to learn and use vessel based equipment such as winches, radios and
electronics.
- Ability
to lift more than 50 pounds.
- Ability
to embrace diversity in all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers
and the public.
- Ability
to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
- Ability
to meet acceptable background check standards.
- Ability,
or willingness to learn time card software.
- Ability
to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as
appropriate.
- Ability
to prioritize tasks and make minor decisions.
- Ability
to maintain a positive and professional attitude.
- Ability
to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability
to display commitment and enthusiasm for the mission of CCE.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft
Office proficiency (especially excel);
- Experience
working on boats and in fabrication shops;
- Dive
certification;
- Knowledge
of the organization, operation, philosophy and objectives of Cooperative
Extension
POSITION DETAILS:
Salary:
$20 per hour, 40 hours per week
Schedule: NON-EXEMPT
Start Date: 04/01/2024
