Job Description Summary:

The Family life Subject Educator is a member of the Human Development team under the Community Education Program. Responsible for supporting educational program needs, assisting in delivering program goals and objectives, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for adults and youth with a subject matter focus on child & human development, social emotional health, and wellbeing. Work as an Extension Association team member in addressing local, regional, and statewide programming priorities. This individual represents Cornell Cooperative Extension's Community Education programs to the public, community leaders, government officials, and Cornell University as part of program delivery. This position is funded by a contract with the Suffolk County Department of Health Services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human development (Child Development), Social work or Psychology or associate degree in human development (Child Development), Social work or Psychology and experience relevant to the role of this position.
  • Fluency in family and human relationship research.
  • Ability/experience in facilitating workshops and curriculum development.
  • Experience in blog writing and podcast scriptwriting, and production
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual channels using traditional tools and methods and electronic technology (e.g., video, audio, computers, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented. Ability to follow procedures and written instructions.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficient with windows-based software, including the use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.
  • Ability to plan and organize personal work responsibilities according to priorities developed with the immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community, and professional leaders.
  • Ability to identify and utilize program resources from the organization and the community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human development during the Life Span (infancy through old age)
  • Experience with Cornell Cooperative Extension or other similar educational organizations
  • Grant writing experience
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary: $23.00 Per Hour

Hour: Non-exempt (20 -35 hours per week)

Dates: Open until filled
