WDR-00042203 Marine Program Assistant Educator - Sea Stars
Assist with all programs and projects associated with the
Marine Program. Conduct various indoor and outdoor marine educational
experiences both on and off the Northport (Sea Stars Marine Camp) locations.
Assistant Educators will be responsible for learning and conducting all
outreach programs at other facilities (schools, other camps, libraries,
daycares, etc.). This position will have a flexible schedule and may include
weekend or early evening hours.
This seasonal position will participate as a marine educator for children and
adults. The educator will also assist with a marine science summer camp for
children ages 6-14, when needed. This will include leading children through
various activities both indoors and outdoors, including the classroom/building,
salt marsh, beach activities, and arts and crafts. The Assistant Educator may
also lead tours at Asharoken Beach, Northport to visiting groups as well as
lead courses and labs individually and prepare and breakdown daily activities
and assigned programs. Assistant Educators will be responsible for preparation
before programs and clean-up after programs including cleaning and care of the
facility, animals, and/or aquaria. All associated tasks related to camp are
possible including supervision of children, paperwork and creating and teaching
a marine lesson.
Additionally, the seasonal educator may assist in other local Western Suffolk
Marine Program projects including water quality and stormwater, but not limited
to.
