DESCRIPTION:
 	
 	On Long Island, we depend on our groundwater for drinking water.
 But the nitrogen fertilizer we apply to our lawns - especially when the grass
 is dormant - can move down through the soil and pollute our aquifer. To protect
 Long Island's waters, Suffolk County Local Law No. 41-2007 was passed to reduce nitrogen pollution
 to our groundwater and surface waters through the overall reduction and better
 management of fertilizer applications. Elements of the law include a ban on applying
 fertilizer in Suffolk County from November 1 to April 1, an educational course
 requirement for lawn care professionals, and educational signs and brochures
 posted in fertilizer retail establishments.
