DESCRIPTION: 	FREE Nutrition Workshops with a CCE Suffolk Nutrition Educator. Join us and you can receive up to a total of $150 for free locally grown vegetables and fruits at Thera Farms, 1705 Brentwood Road, Brentwood at St. Josephs Convent. You will receive $15 for each workshop you participate in. Workshops will be available in English and Spanish. 	 	SERIES ONE workshops will take place on Thursdays, June 6-August15th. (No class July 4th) 	SERIES TWO workshops will take place on Thursdays, August 22nd-October 24th. 	Both Series are held at the Thera Farm Market, 1705 Brentwood Road, Brentwood, NY. 	Classes are 10:00-11:00am *weather permitting. (check Thera Farms Facebook for weather related closures)Workshop 1: Fantastic Fruits 	Learn about the importance of fruits in our everyday lives.Workshop 2: Fabulous Vegetables 	Veggies are an integral part of our meals- learn more about starchy and non-starchy vegetables.Workshop 3: Eating Healthy on a Budget 	Gain skills for healthy eating on a budget through proper meal planning and smart purchasing, with an emphasis on fiber rich foods.Workshop 4: Portion Control 	Tips to recognize how much to eat so you can control your portion size and still be satisfied.Workshop 5: ReThink Your Drink 	Learn skills to measure the amount of sugar in popular drink choices and distinguish names for sugar.Workshop 6: Foods That Taste Great-(Limit Fat and Sodium) 	Learn about the physical effects of too much fat and sodium in their diets.Workshop 7: Vary Your Protein 	Learn health benefits of incorporating the right type of protein in their diets. Learn how to add plant protein in daily meals.Workshop 8: Make Half Your Grains Whole 	Gain knowledge of how to properly identify a whole grain food and the benefits of consuming more whole grains.Workshop 9: Food Safety 	How and where foods should be prepared and stored.Workshop 10: Physical Activity 	Learn practical ways to incorporate physical activity into your day.
