DESCRIPTION: 	Get a Taste for Nutrition with our FREE Diabetes Nutrition Workshops with a CCE Suffolk Diabetes Nutrition Educator. 	Vouchers for fruit and vegetables redeemable at Thera Farms will be available while supplies last. 	Workshops will take place on Thursdays, July 3-October 2; 10:15-11:15am at Thera Farms 1705 Brentwood Road, Brentwood at St. Josephs Convent. 	Seating is extremely limited. We encourage people to bring their own chairs. 	July 3: Veggies 	Let’s eat the rainbow! Learn about the importance of vegetables in our everyday lives. 	July 10: Fruits 	Add a variety of fruits in our daily lives. 	July 17: Limit Fat, Sodium 	During this lesson we will learn how much fat and sodium you may be consuming through your favorite snacks and foods. 	July 24: Rethink your drink 	Learn skills to measure the amount of sugar in popular drink choices and distinguish various names for sugar. 	July 31: Whole Grains 	Gain knowledge of how to properly identify a whole grain food and the benefits of consuming more whole grains. 	August 7: Vary your protein 	Exploring different types of protein, including plant-based options. 	August 14: Portion Control 	Tips to recognize My Plate serving sizes and still be satisfied. 	August 21: Eating Healthy on a Budget 	Gain skills for healthy eating on a budget through proper meal planning and smart purchasing. 	August 28: Walk Around the Farm/Physical Activity 	Learn practical ways to incorporate physical activity into your day. Bring walking shoes. 	September 4: Food Safety 	How and where foods should be prepared and stored. 	September 11: Dental and Nutrition 	what you can eat can affect your “oral heath”. Learn the connections between your nutrition and mouth. 	September 18: Calcium- animal and plant based sources 	Identification of dairy foods and foods high in calcium are important to build and maintain bone health throughout life. 	September 25: Food Waste 	Learn ways to prevent food waste. 	October 2: Fall fruits and veggies 	Tap into more seasonal fruits and vegetables and strategies going into the winter.
