Suffolk County Farm 4-H Camp, Diabetes Camp Counselor, Yaphank, NY

Position Summary:

Assist in teaching educational camp programs at the Suffolk County Farm and Education Center.Assist with day-to-day operations of the Diabetes Camp Program.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 months volunteer or work experience.
  • Paid or volunteer experience working with children and the public.
  • Ability to understand and carry out educational program tasks and objectives.
  • Ability to work outdoors, performing various types of educational and physical activities.
  • Have an appreciation and understanding of the natural environment.
  • Must work for the full camp season, which includes training before camp and wrap-up after camp has ended.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional education and training in the field of education.
  • Additional education in environmental science, horticulture, animal science, agriculture, and natural science.
  • Some teaching experience.
  • Ability to assist with teaching and a keen interest in educating youth.
  • Leadership abilities.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary: Non-exempt $16.12 per hour

Hour: 30 hours per week

Dates: July 10, 2023 – July 21, 2023
