Part-time Farm Educator, Suffolk County Farm, Yaphank, NY

Position Summary:

Prepare and present all programs offered in the most current "Field Trips and Outreaches" brochure, both on-farm and in schools, libraries, and other community settings.Assist with birthday parties and family programs.Assist with festivals and special events.Assist with day-to-day operations of Farm Education programs.

This is a part-time (0-20 hours per week) position

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Education, or other related fields, High School Diploma, and 2 years of volunteer or work experience.
  • One year of paid or volunteer experience working with children and the public.
  • Ability to learn how to drive a van, horse trailer, truck, and livestock trailer.
  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Education, or other related fields.
  • Additional education and training in the field of education.
  • Additional education in agriculture, animal sciences, natural sciences, human development, and consumer sciences.
  • Additional teaching experience related to academic areas listed above.
  • Experience teaching subjects related to agriculture, animal sciences, natural sciences, human development, and consumer sciences.

Salary: $16.12 per hour

Schedule: Temp – 0-20 hours per week
