CCE Suffolk IT Coordinator, Riverhead, NY

Position Summary:

This individual will serve as the local IT expert for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Suffolk County (CCE-SC) and will provide multi-site guidance on the Information Technology (IT) operations for CCE-SC.This position will develop and maintain effective working relationships among CCE-SC staff and will work in conjunction with Cornell Cooperative Extension Administration IT facilitating successful policy/procedure changes driven by compliance requirements and implementing Association IT initiatives.This person works closely with the Chief Operating Officer to establish robust networks of workstations linked via both the internet and intranet and provide remote maintenance, updates, and support to those networks and components (both hardware and software), including monitoring telecommunication systems and purchasing IT-related equipment.This person will also perform in-person maintenance as requested/ needed for projects within CCE Suffolk (at multiple worksites) and in collaborative projects involving CCE Suffolk and partner organizations.The IT Coordinator will exercise professional judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in leading the Association's IT operations in all tasks.Serve as the connection to the CCE Administration IT Team for guidance on processes and updates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Information Technology, related field, or equivalent (High School/ GED plus 1-year transferable experience).
  • 3 to 5 years of successful and responsible related experience, including network interface and administration, operations and software training, security systems, hardware installation and upgrades, and system installation and management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate IT terminology and changes to all levels of users.
  • Very strong communication skills and an attitude of being helpful at all levels are vital to this position.
  • Ability to lead new technological changes/updates.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards, if required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with current IT systems and hardware, preferably those currently used by Cornell University and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary: $26.00 -$29.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Schedule: Full-time/non-exempt (40 hours per week)
