Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting with planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating youth education efforts at the Marine Program facilities based in Huntington (Coindre Hall) and Northport (Fuchs Pond Preserve). Provide high-quality marine science programming focusing on Long Island's local marine environment. Work with CCE resource specialists, local organizations, and partner agencies to educate youth and community groups. Administer and oversee Marine Summer Camp and staff.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's Degree with experience relevant to the position. A Bachelor's Degree plus four years of transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience may substitute.
• Experience relevant to the role of the position.
• Proficiency with windows-based software, including the internet and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
• Proven in-depth knowledge in the field of marine environmental education.
• Ability to maintain and handle live marine animals for educational and demonstration purposes.
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively with advisory boards and committees, community, and funding partners.
• Ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement, teach, and evaluate informal educational programs.
• Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.
• Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to communicate effectively through verbal, written, and visual channels using traditional methods, educational tools, and electronic technology (e.g., video, audio, computers, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Obtain/maintain lifeguard certification, Advanced First Aid & CPR/AED certifications, and other certifications that may become required for the position to meet Suffolk County and New York State youth camp standards.
• Experience with Cooperative Extension or other similar educational organizations.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary: Non-exempt $25.00 - $27.00 per hour (based on experience)

Hour:35-40 hours per week

Dates: April 1, 2023
