Pauline Kehrli graduated from Suffolk County CCE Master Gardener training during the COVID 19 pandemic in 2021. She served as a Teaching Assistant for Class of 2022, and regularly delivers presentations for the CCE Speakers Bureau about Winter Seed Sowing, Seed Saving, Lawns Love Fall, and more. She taught the workshops The Magic of Compost and Organic Vegetable Gardening at Spring Gardening School at Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank. She volunteers at the Ketcham Inn in Center Moriches and worked on their Colonial Kitchen Garden as well as their Vegetable Garden which provides produce to local food pantries. She is gearing up for a new garden restoration project at Havens House in Center Moriches. Her love for gardening began when she became a homeowner in 1996 and quickly learned how to maintain the landscaping. She moved to Centerport in 2017 and had more property and more questions: about flowers, trees, shrubs, lawns, growing vegetables and herbs... The Master Gardener program was the way to answer those questions and dig deeper.
Pauline said, “It’s invigorating and empowering to be part of something that makes a difference; to teach others how to garden utilizing native plants, less inputs and with biodiversity and sustainability in mind.”
In addition she works with senior citizens at an Assisted Living community.
