2021 Veterinary Medicine Career Exploration Program

The 2021 Veterinary Medicine Career Exploration program is open to high school juniors and seniors.

This is NOT a hands-on program. This program includes:

  • Veterinarian Shadowing Experience
  • Tour of Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County Farm and Education Center: March 6 or March 14, 2021
  • Lecture Series on Thurs evenings 7:00-8:45pm at the Ag Hall at the Suffolk County Farm

Lecture topic examples:

  • Veterinary colleges and admissions information
  • Large & mixed animal practices
  • Poultry & production medicine
  • Small & companion animal medicine
  • Zoo medicine & exotics
  • Specializations in: Radiology, Lab Animal Medicine, Emergency Critical Care, Animal Behavior

Student receives Certificate of Completion if requirements are fulfilled (only 1 absence allowed, tour included). Program graduates eligible for LIVMA Veterinary School Scholarship.

Pre-registration is required.

Registration for the program opens October 27th, 2020.

Programs can be cancelled up to ten days prior to the first scheduled date without penalty. There will be a $50 cancellation fee with less than 10 days notice. All programs are offered rain or shine. Cancellations are at the discretion of the Suffolk County Farm. Refunds are offered if the Suffolk County Farm cancels a program.

Fee

$100 - One parent is welcome to attend at no additional fee. Space is limited to 22 students.
