Our Programs

Youth are challenged to develop their skills and knowledge in our numerous activities such as: STEM, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, wilderness skills, backcountry cooking, fishing, archery, leadership skills, theater arts, music, multimedia, adventure trail, basketball, soccer, and and/or basketball. Each evening has a special event planned including: opening and closing campfires, talent show, dance, and Turtle Games (Peconic Dunes’ version of color war). Camp runs Sunday through Saturday.

Children experience a full range of classic camp activities on our lake and Sound waterfronts, environmental science, outdoor skills, expressive arts, and sports. Lunch is included and every day after lunch is a special group activity. Every Friday afternoon is our Turtle Games Carnival where campers take turns running a carnival game they designed with their group and then enjoying the games created by other campers. Day Camp runs Monday through Friday, with drop off each day between 8:30am and 8:55am and pickup at 5:00pm.

Counselors in Training (CITs) experience 4 weeks at Peconic Dunes learning American Red Cross waterfront lifeguarding, Professional Rescuer CPR, and first aid. Guided by experienced counselors, CITs apprentice in activities to learn how to demonstrate and evaluate skills by teaching younger campers. CITs also receive resume writing and interviewing workshops. On the weekend, CITs spend the day off-site visiting a local attraction. Interested youth must apply for the program by December 9. 2016.

Super Saturdays are for campers who want to stay at camp for one more day or stay for two or more weeks without going home. Each Saturday offers a trip to a local attraction with lunch off-site, Saturday night pizza, and time to unwind. Our laundry service picks up and returns campers’ clothing so you won’t even have to pack an extra week’s worth of clothing.

NOTE: Super Saturday must FOLLOW your child’s week at camp; campers cannot begin camp on Saturday. There is no Super Saturday at the end of week 4.


Based on the US Sailing Small Boat Sailor in Light Air (5-14 mph) certification program, we'll get you tacking and jibing on the LI Sound. While all campers are striving for certification, our goal is to use the standards to help campers develop a solid foundation. Our sailing instructors come from around the world to offer small group instruction on Sunfish and Laser sailboats.
