Due to the Novel Coronavirus/NYS PAUSE circumstances we will not be holding Marine Summer Camps on-site this summer to ensure the safety of both our campers and staff. If you have registered already you will be receiving a refund. We’re sure you are just as disappointed as we are that our camps will not be operating this summer, so in order to help stay connected to our campers we are working hard to create opportunities to bring camp to you! We are excited to announce that we will be making CCE Marine Camp Kits available. These kits will provide an opportunity for campers to still experience some of the activities and experiences we traditionally offer at camp, but in an at-home setting with opportunities for outdoor self-guided field explorations your family can take part in. Kits will include detailed daily schedules and everything needed to keep campers engaged for 3 hours per day for a 5-day camp week, and will also feature an opportunity to virtually interact with your favorite CCE Marine Program Camp Directors! For more information, and to pre-order your kit today please visit: https://www.ccemarinedigitaled.org/education-kits/pre-order-cce-marine-camp-kit

Sea Grant award for Sport Fishing Frenzy Programs

Would you like to bring your students on a fishing expedition at the Sport Fishing Education Center?

undefined

Sea Grant has awarded Cornell Cooperative Extension, for classes from Title 1 schools to be afforded the opportunity to experience our Sport Fishing Frenzy program where students learn about the species that are fished for in our local waters like fluke, flounder, striped bass, bluefish, etc. We will explore conservation and regulations on those species, how to fish for them, proper and safe handling, and catch and release techniques. After a short presentation, game, and demonstration of equipment we will go test our skills and fish from our pier!

If you are interested in participating in this exciting, hands-on field trip to the Sport Fishing Education Center in Babylon, please contact Tracy Marcus at tm353@cornell.edu!

New for 2020! For children ages 15 - 17.

Is your teenager interested in marine science and working with younger children? This program is designed to give them a week-long summer experience where they discover both areas! Our CIT program will afford your child the chance to participate in our camp while assisting counselors in working with younger campers as they do marine related crafts, marine science lessons, activities, seining, work with live marine creatures, and games. CITs will also help counselors prepare activities & games, learn how to supervise younger campers, be involved in lesson planning, and help in the 'behind the scenes' daily activities of camp operation (including animal care/feeding and tank maintenance). Participation hours in this program can count towards community service hours for programs such as National Honor Society, graduation requirements, etc.

Included in this registration will be 2 training days the week of June 22. Each day will be 3 hours and this will be mandatory for all staff and participants in the CIT Program sessions.

Each CIT candidate registered will need to meet the camp director, Tracy Marcus prior to the summer and interview with the camp director for acceptance into the program.
