• With busy family schedules, it can sometimes be hard for children to find time to play. However, the joy of developing an imaginary world, story, or script in pretend play takes time. Give your child some down time to do this.

• Allow your child to turn things into their own play props. Not everything has to have a set purpose or goal when it is played with. Give your child an object and see what they make of it. Your trash could be their treasures (i.e. an old phone book, empty food containers, clothing and accessories from a thrift store).

• Give your child an empty box - the bigger the better. See what happens!
