Habitat Stewardship Session (Hampton Bays)

  • Friday, April 7, 2023, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

During this Back to the Bays Stewardship Session, we will be tending to our coastal plant and helping to propagate some of our coastal plant species for use in local restoration projects including american beach (dune) grass, seaside goldenrod, and other native grasses, flowers and shrubs. CCE Habitat Specialists will begin the workshop briefly talking about the importance of all of our marine habitats and natural shorelines. Then we will get to work transplanting into our raised beds, repotting, pruning, and removing dead shrubs and replacing with new ones. If we have time, we can make some native seed bombs to plant into one of the raised beds for our pollinators. We hope you will come lend us a hand to help us increase our inventory of native plants to revegetate our local shorelines throughout the town and region.

Dress for the weather and bring garden gloves if you have them!

Children 10+ welcome if they are able and willing to help in garden. Tasks may involve shoveling, lifting, and bending over. If you have any physical limitations, let us know and we will find a task that works for you.

Registration in advance helps us prepare for appropriate number of people.

Can’t stay the whole time? No problem! Whatever you contribute is appreciated.
