Exciting new research on brain development reveals that the first years of life are critical for healthy development. How can we as professionals help parents foster brain development? Learn what infants and young children need for optimal intellectual, emotional and social growth. We will discuss the latest research on language development, emergent literacy and how best to help children who are English language learners. We will provide information on nutrition and the parent-child feeding relationship to help families cope with picky eaters and promote healthy eating habits for life.

Sleep: A Critical Component of Health and Well-Being

This program for professionals will discuss the critical role sleep plays in overall well-being for both children and adults. Sleep impacts physical, mental, and emotional health as well as behavior and decision making. During this program, sleep recommendations by age will be reviewed and suggestions for creating a healthy sleep environment will be provided.

Caring for Yourself: Managing Grief and Loss

Losing a loved one is both a universal and deeply personal human experience, however conversations around grief and loss are oftentimes taboo and difficult to have. The COVID-19 pandemic and other national and international events have also exacerbated our losses and upended our lives in a myriad of ways. This workshop explores ways to better understand and manage grief. Participants will build their knowledge base about the different types of grief, models to best understand grief and to develop strategies to care for themselves and their families, friends, and others during challenging times.

Unpacking Gender

As our culture becomes more accepting of transgender and gender diverse individuals, we are having more discussions about gender than ever before. However, many of us may still not understand what it means to live in a gender-expansive society. In this workshop, we will expand traditional understandings of gender, build a deeper understanding of gender-diverse individuals, and offer everyday skills to navigate a gender-expansive world.
