Annuals

Cleome x Senorita Rosalita®

(Serorita Rosalita Spider Flower)

2016

undefined This lovely, colorful annual offers rounded clusters of rosy-pink flowers all summer and dark green, palm-shaped leaves. The bushy, upright growth habit can reach 2 to 3 feet in height and 18 to 24 inches in spread. This spider flower is like no other as it is more compact and thornless as well as sterile so it will not produce seedlings the following growing season. Spider flower is also deer-resistant, drought and heat-tolerant and easy to grow. It prefers full sun or partial shade and well-drained soils. Spider flower is ideal in mixed borders with dwarf shrubs, perennials and other annuals as well as in containers. Senorita Rosalita spider flower will provide seasonal interest from mid spring until the first hard frost in fall. Hardy in zones 9-10.

Begonia x benariensis

(Whopper® and Big® Begonias)

2016

undefined Although these robust growers look like the traditional annual wax begonias, they are actually a hybrid with much larger flowers and more robust growth habit. Both the Whopper® and Big® begonias feature exceptionally large, showy flowers reaching 2 to 3 inches across and dense, bushy growth habit from 24 to 30 inches tall. Flowers are either vivid red or rosy pink and waxy foliage can be green or bronze depending on the cultivars. These begonias prefer moist, well-drained soils but are rather low-maintenance once established. They work well in a mass planting, foundation planting, mixed border or in large containers. Whopper® and Big® begonias are a real show stopper in the summer landscape! Hardy in zones 10-11.
