Long Island Trial Gardens
ANNUAL PLANT TRIAL GARDEN
The Long Island Annual Plant Trial Gardens are located at the Long Island Horticultural Research & Extension Center (LIHREC), 3059 Sound Avenue, Riverhead, NY.
The trials are always open during business hours June-September; please check in at the office before you head out to the trials.
The Annual Trial displays approximately 200 varieties of annual plants from various breeding and/or marketing companies, including ~100 new varieties.

SHADE ANNUAL DEMONSTRATION TRIAL
The Shade Annual Trial was established at LIHREC in the summer of 2013 to demonstrate commonly suggested shade annual alternatives to garden impatiens (Impatiens walleriana). The goal of this trial is to serve as a resource for growers, gardeners, and landscapers seeking substitute plants for garden impatiens which are threatened by impatiens downy mildew.
