The 2024 Veterinary Medicine Career Exploration program is open to all high school students (9th-12th grade).
This is NOT a hands-on program. This program includes:
Lecture Series on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:45pm at the Yaphank County Office Building, 360 Yaphank Avenue, Yaphank
Veterinarian Shadowing Experience (pending current COVID-19 status)
Tour of Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County Farm and Education Center: March 2 or March 10, 2024
Lecture topic examples:
Specializations in: Lab Animal Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care, Animal Behavior
Student receives Certificate of Completion if requirements are fulfilled (only 1 absence allowed, tour and shadowing experience included). Program graduates eligible for LIVMA Veterinary School Scholarship.

Fee: $100 per student, guardians welcome to attend meetings at no additional cost
Programs can be cancelled up to ten days prior to the first scheduled date without penalty. There will be a $50 cancellation fee with less than 10 days notice. All programs are offered rain or shine. Cancellations are at the discretion of the Suffolk County Farm. Refunds are offered if the Suffolk County Farm cancels a program.
