Pressure Canning Workshop & Pressure Gauge Testing

  • Saturday, September 14, 2024, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Come, have fun learning the Science-backed & Researched-based method of Pressure Canning to assure the safe and tasty preservation of the season’s bounty!

  • Pressure canning is needed for low acid foods since killing the Clostridium botulinum bacteria putting us at risk for botulism are found naturally in foods in a very heat resistant form. (This is a spore form.) Pressure canning allows the environment surrounding the jars in the “Pressure Canner” to get above boiling temperatures and accomplish killing of spores in reasonable amounts of time.
  • Preparation for the workshop: Please tie your hair back, wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops) and bring an apron.

Fee

$35.00-Workshop w/Testing (Pressure Gauge Testing, alone $10.00) pay at the door
