Description: Folks new to horticulture and landscape management are welcome and encouraged to participate in this full-day workshop that will cover identification and pruning of woody trees and shrubs. This workshop is designed to supplement study for landscape professionals interested in becoming a Certified Nursery & Landscape Professional (CNLP) and is session 5 as part of the CNLP Exam Review Course. Woody Plant Identification Vincent Simeone, Planting Fields Arboretum Vincent will review leaf morphology, branch arrangement, and other plant traits for identification of woody plants. An introduction to using a dichotomous key will be reviewed. |

Introduction to Pruning of Woody Plants Joseph Patrone, Hofstra University Joseph will provide a review on the importance of pruning, necessary equipment, timing and frequency, and pruning techniques of deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs. |
