Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County approached 2021 with a spirit of optimism and fortitude. Working our way out of a pandemic and learning the lessons associated with this worldwide challenge compelled our teams to continue adapting to new environments. And throughout the adaptations, CCE-Suffolk pursued and accomplished our goals!
We launched the year with an eye towards COLLABORATION! Our collaborative efforts are what make CCE-Suffolk stronger, more effective, and more diverse. Collaborations across the association increased our reach and enhanced our resources.
We hope you enjoy this look back at 2021 and a peek at what’s ahead as we highlight our INNOVATIVE programs that are underway in 2022!

2020

|
This year was marked by unprecedented events and it was like no other. For non-profits, like Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, it stretched resources and put “pivot” in the daily vocabulary. We had to rethink our programs and outreach to the community while supporting our staff as they dealt with their own struggles through the pandemic.
In our review, we did not and will not dwell on the negatives of the year, but rather will look to the positive. 2020 gave us an opportunity to grow and to strategize. Everyone took to virtual platforms and continued to teach and inspire! We helped families cope with pandemic induced stress and gave tools for resiliency. We collaborated with industry leaders to provide them timely information on relevant issues, as they learned to adapt to the new normal. Outdoor spaces, like our 272-acre educational farm, became a refuge for families yearning for a safe environment to escape. We even welcomed a new executive director and began to see the association with newfound energy, purpose and vision.
