This #StakeholderSaturday, we highlight Soul Fire Farm in Petersburg, New York. They are a community-centered farm with a mission to uproot racism and return agency for all in the food system. Soul Fire grows and distributes fresh food. groups come together on their farm to share “skills on sustainable agriculture, natural building, spiritual activism, health, and environmental justice.”
Since their inception, they have reached 160,000 program participants each year, conducted farmer training for Black and Brown growers, commenced land return initiatives, held food justice workshops, facilitated home gardens for apartment dwellers, conducted doorstep harvest delivery, and advocacy with decision-makers.
We share their vision of creating an inclusive environment with our programming, youth development, and advocacy. Our upcoming work with local tribal nations will have a similar impact to Soul Fire Farm by creating food sovereignty and access for nation members.
