Bilingual Human Development/Family Educator - Riverhead, NY

The Human Development/Family Educator is a member of the Human Development team under the Community Education Program. Responsible for supporting educational program needs, assisting in delivering program goals and objectives, and planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for adults with a subject matter focus on child & human development, social-emotional health, and wellbeing. Work as an Extension Association team member in addressing local, regional, and statewide programming priorities. This individual represents Cornell Cooperative Extension's Community Education programs to the public, community leaders, government officials, and Cornell University as part of program delivery. A contract with the Suffolk County Department of Health Services funds this position. Applicant must be bi-lingual in English/Spanish

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Development, Child Development, Family Studies, Social Work or Psychology or Associates's degree in Human Development, Child Development, Social Work or Psychology and experience relevant to the role of this position.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Ability/experience in facilitating workshops and curriculum development.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual channels using traditional tools and methods and electronic technology (e.g., video, audio, computers, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented. Ability to follow procedures and written instructions.
  • Must demonstrate high integrity, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficient with windows-based software, including the internet and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.
  • Ability to plan and organize personal work responsibilities according to priorities developed with the immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community, and professional leaders.
  • Ability to identify and utilize program resources from the organization and the community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in blog writing and podcast scriptwriting, and production
  • Knowledge of and experience in the Cornell Cooperative Extension system is preferred.
  • Grant writing experience

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary: $22-23 per hour (Part-Time)

Schedule: NON-EXEMPT – TEMP (0-20 hours per week)
