Alyssa Turano is a Senior Public Involvement Specialist for Burns & McDonnell. As part of the project management team she works to help manage, provide field outreach, and deliver an integrated community approach to planning utility scale renewable energy projects. She is a current member of the Suffolk County Farm Community Advisory Committee and serves as liaison to the Cornell Cooperative Extension Board of Directors. Alyssa is also a member of the Long Island Associations Young Professionals Committee and is working towards her MBA at Stony Brook University. After earning a dual degree in French and International Studies from High Point University, Alyssa began her career in government. First serving as Legislative Aide and then as Chief of Staff to former Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn. During her time as Chief of Staff, Alyssa worked on numerous initiatives and served on several boards including co-chairing the Hercules on the Harbor 10k, Fifth District Representative to the Suffolk County Youth Coordinating Council, and as a member of the Walk for Beauty and Gallery North Wet Paint Festival planning committees. Giving back through community service has always been important to Alyssa and the reason she now organizes regular employee volunteer efforts for her company. Alyssa is a Long Island native and resides in Setauket with her partner Mark, in her childhood home. In her spare time she enjoys hiking trails across Long Island and taking long bike rides with Mark and their dog Quincy. |
