Sonia Spar is an strategic thinker with more than 20 years of experience in leadership positions working with government agencies, and internationally recognized higher education and non-for-profit institutions helping them expand impact and strengthen credibility, accountability and performance. Expert in developing and strengthening relationships with stakeholders - at all organizational levels, and identifying diverse opportunities for growth. Multilingual public speaker. An advocate for children’s education, leadership, equity, inclusion, respect and civility. A recognized community leader and educator. Ms. Spar was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, where she pursued her undergraduate and graduate studies in Modern Languages and Negotiation & International Relations at Universidad de Los Andes. She also holds a Master of Arts in Islamic and Middle Eastern Affairs, with emphasis in conflict resolution from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. She is a certified A World of Difference Anti-Bias Education Facilitator. She is an alumnus of the CCE’s Master Gardener Program, class of 2021. Ms. Spar currently serves as a member of the Hispanic Advisory Board for Suffolk County Executive, a member of the Suffolk County Health Equity Task Force and a member of Unified Long Island, a bi-county effort fighting hate and discrimination in Long Island. She is also the Co-Chair of the Southold Town Anti-Bias Task Force. |
