CCE Marine Program

April is #EarthMonth here at #CCESuffolk! Learn about how we are doing our part to protect our environment and our residents.

The earth is made up of more than just land. It also includes our waters too! It’s just as important to keep our waters clean to preserve the marine life and plants that live beneath the waves. Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program hosts several workshops and events throughout the year to help the community get involved in protecting our waters.

Our Back to the Bays initiative helps people of all ages learn about the water and what we can do to keep it clean. Whether you take part in our youth marine summer camps or raise your own shellfish through SPAT, you can join in the efforts to learn more about the waters of our home. You can also create a healthy ecosystem by taking part in our Marine Meadows workshops and creating “tortillas” to protect our eelgrass meadows and marshlands. No matter what you do, you can always learn more about our waters and what you can do to keep them healthy for years to come.
