Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act) - Building on almost a decade of climate leadership based on the latest climate science, the Climate Act, mandates that the state achieves 100% carbon-free electricity system by 2040. By 2030, it is required that New York reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent with 70% of New York’s electricity must come from renewable sources and no less than 85 percent by 2050 from 1990 levels. In order to achieve these goals, the Climate Act requires 9,000 MW of the energy we use to come from offshore sources by 2035.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) – A New York State Agency aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers equitably. NYSERDA programming impacts renewable energy including wind and solar, resilient energy systems, energy efficiency and decarbonization, greenhouse gas emissions, and the clean energy economy.

National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) - With a focus on security and reliability, NLR leads energy systems innovation and integration—enhancing existing technologies and developing new, cutting-edge solutions that unlock economic opportunity and fuel America's global competitiveness. NLR bridges foundational research with practical applications to integrate various energy sources, storage, buildings, transportation, and emerging technologies.

Suffolk County Economic Development & Planning: Energy and Climate Action Office - Identifies opportunities for improved energy policies for the county and coordinates with the Department of Public Works to execute and implement those policies. Suffolk County seeks and utilizes all tools and programs available to further the goal of developing renewable energy and making County buildings and fleet more energy efficient.
