CDLI Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) Administered locally,WAP assists families and individuals by reducing their heating/cooling costs and improving the safety of their homes through energy efficiency measures. An applicant might be automatically eligible for WAP funding if they already qualify for and receive SNAP, SSI, HEAP, etc.

CDLI Home Improvement Loan Community Development Long Island has available low-interest home improvement loans for eligible Long Island homeowners. We will help to identify the repairs, contract with licensed contractors to get the best prices and finance the cost of repairs up to $25,000. CDLI will manage the process, bid out your job with reputable contractors, and get you the fairest price.All loans will be secured with a note and mortgage. Interest rates vary between 4% or 6%, based on household income in relation to the Area Median Income (AMI).Loans can be used to make the following types of repairs: Electrical; Plumbing; HVAC; Energy Efficiency Measures; and Structural, Health, & Safety Measures.

CDLI Home Improvement Program - The Long Island Home Improvement Program provides income-eligible households the resources to make necessary repairs that will correct basic structural defects or repair basic building systems that threaten, or if not corrected could threaten, the health and safety of the dwelling’s residents.These home improvements are designed to prolong the useful life of each home as well as increase the dwelling’s health, safety, and sustainability. Funds are available based on need and on meeting the individualized needs of each household that applies. CDLI attempts to assist as many households as funding will allow. Due to the high demand for this program, there is currently a waitlist of approximately 2 years.Typical repairs may include but are not limited to: Heating System Replacements; Electrical Service Upgrade; Roof Replacement; Siding; Gutters; Energy Efficiency; Windows & Doors; Handrails, Stoops, & Walkways; Structural Correction; and Health & Safety Measures.

CDLI Plus One ADU Program - Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are secondary housing units on a single-family residential lot. ADUs benefit homeowners, renters, and the community by creating more housing options while maintaining the character of single-family residential suburban and rural communities. Grants are available (up to $125,000) for homeowners in Babylon, East Hampton, Shelter Island, and Southampton for accessory dwelling unit construction.The Plus One ADU Program provides a full-service program to support low- and middle-income single-family homeowner occupants who wish to build a new accessory dwelling unit on their property or improve an existing ADU that needs to be brought into compliance with code requirements.Program support includes ADU design, permitting, and construction costs including oversight and closeout.

CDLI Resiliency Retrofits ProgramNew York State homeowners may be eligible for up to $50,000 in a 50/50 loan and grant program to undertake flood mitigation measures and other climate-ready improvements to their homes, including energy upgrades. The homeowner must undertake a flood mitigation measure as part of the overall home improvement. There is up to $50,000 in a combination low-interest loan with matching grant for flood mitigation and energy efficiency and electrification improvements (main structure of the home only). Loans are at a 1% simple interest rate and are payable over 5-10 years. The Grant portion of the AWARD, of up to $25,000, is considered a deferred loan through the term of the loan and forgiven once the terms of the loan are satisfied.

CDLI RESTORE Program - The RESTORE Program provides income-eligible homeowners, 60 years of age and older, the resources to make necessary emergency repairs to address hazardous conditions posing a threat to life, health or safety of the elderly homeowner. Funds are available for repairs up to $20,000 per home. Typical repairs may include: Heating system repairs or replacements; Electrical repairs or upgrades; Plumbing repairs that pose a health risk such as water supply and septic issues; Structural repairs such as deteriorated foundations, roofs, floors, stairs, decks, doorways, etc.; and Accessibility measures such as ramps, stair lifts, and grab bars.

Rebuilding Together Long Island (RTLI) - RTLI transforms the lives of income-qualified homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing their communities. Their experienced volunteers perform the vast majority of the work and come from all walks of life and represent all professions, corporations and businesses. RTLI has been serving our neighbors by providing free home safety repairs, as well as modifications for those with physical limitations. RTLI performs repairs including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and home modifications including wheelchair ramps for the physically challenged. There is NEVER a cost to income-qualified clients. United Way Older Adult Home Modification Program – The Older Adult Modification Program offers qualified homeowners 62 and over home safety adjustments, small home repairs, accessibility modifications, and hazard and health modifications. Funding is exhausted, but a renewal is anticipated in the near future.
